Born in Venezuela, Mariana Rondón studied in Paris, before graduating in the first class of the EICTV, Cuba. She is a director, writer, producer and visual artist. Her films have been distributed worldwide and received highly-reputed awards.
Her film BAD HAIR (2013) received the Golden Shell at San Sebastian, Bronze Alexander and FIPRESCI Prize at Thessaloniki; and Silver Astor at Mar del Plata for Best Director and Screenplay, along with 44 other awards. It was commercially released in 38 countries.
Her 2007 film POSTCARDS FROM LENINGRAD won Best Director and FIPRESCI Prize at Kerala and the International Jury Award at Sao Paulo.
As a visual artist, she works in electronic arts and robotics. Outstanding works include YOU CAME WITH THE BREEZE (2002-2011) and SUPERBLOQUE (2012-2018).
She was invited to the prestigious residences, Rockefeller Bellagio Center 2017 and Mac Dowell colony 2016.
Now she is developing ZAFARI, with support from WCF Berlinale- Europe, Ibermedia and DAFO, in coproduction with Klaxon, Brazil and Still Moving, France.
